Counselling,
advocacy information & support
for anyone aged 14-25 years
who lives, works or studies in
Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale
The aim of the
project is to promote positive options
for young people by creating new opportunities
for them to explore, understand and
deal effectively with the wide range
of pressures, stresses and challenges
which affect their health, well being
and development.
We aim to reduce the numbers of young
people needing to access secondary or
crisis intervention services, so easing
the burden on these organisations as
well as providing more easily accessible
services within a young person friendly
environment.
we also seek to involve young people
in influencing how services which affect
their health and quality of life are
designed and delivered.

PROJECT SERVICES
Counselling
The project offers free confidential
appointments with trained counsellors.
Clients can come for a one-off session
or arrange to meet someone regularly,
up to 6 sessions depending on their
needs.
People can make an appointment to talk
privately with a counsellor about any
situation in their lives they are not
happy about.
Advocacy
The project will act as an advocate
for clients who may require support
dealing with another person or organisation.
We can write or speak on a client's
behalf, or support someone to ensure
their needs and concerns are heard.
Information
and Support
We provide information and leaflets
on a wide range of health related topics
and relevant services. These resouirces
can be accessed by young people as well
as family, friends and workers from
other agencies. We can also provide
practical support to clients needing
to access other specialist services.
Drop-in
Sessions
These are available for people to call
in without an appointment either for
an informal chat, to look through a
wide range of leaflets and information
materials, or to find out more about
the project.
The drop-in is complimented by a sexual
health worker who can offer advice and
information on any issue connected to
sex and relationships. Free pregnancy
testing and condoms are available when
appropriate.
Group
Work
We are able to offer group work sessions
on a range of issues for example mental
health / stress awareness, relationships,
bullying, self esteem, assertiveness
etc. We will also provide workshops
on an ad hoc basis relating to issues
raised by clients using this service.
Training
The project has devised a mental health
/ stress awareness course which can
be delivered in schools and community
groups. This usually involves four consecutive
hour long sessions, but can be adapted
to suit the needs of different groups.
There is also provision of training
in mental health awareness for staff
/ agencies working with young people.

This means that any info a person
